Dr Michael Rigby, a world-renowned Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital has a special interest in Interventional Cardiac Catheterisation in infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease. He was appointed to his current post in 1983 and knows many patients and families with links to the Royal Brompton.
Dr Rigby is the Chair of The Brompton Fountain, having taken over from the previous Chair and Founder, Lord Jamie Borwick, and has been a Trustee for over 10 years.

Niamh is a paediatric nurse. She worked on Rose ward at Royal Brompton Hospital from 2002 until 2026, and now works on the Cardiac and Respiratory units at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Niamh was a ward sister for many years, until 2012 and is now a Quality Improvement nurse, working on service improvement, liaising closely with the clinical teams.

Professor Piers Daubeney
Professor Daubeney is a Consultant paediatric and fetal cardiologist. He has developed a leading international research team which has carried out three of the largest multi-institutional studies into childhood heart diseases in the world, as well as being a regular lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute.
Professor Daubeney was also part of the original group of staff to assist in establishing The Brompton Fountain charity in 2005.


Prof Louise Fleming is a Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician and Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College, London. She has worked at the Brompton on and off since 1999 and has been a consultant since 2011. Her main research interests are asthma and pre-school wheeze, for which she has many active studies. Clinically she looks after children with a range of respiratory problems. She is a strong advocate for improving care for children through strengthened clinical pathways and ensuring they are represented in research.
