The Brompton Fountain is the only charity dedicated to supporting children’s heart and lung care throughout London and the South East. We work closely with the nursing and multidisciplinary teams at Royal Brompton Hospital, and its network of partner hospitals, to provide specialist support and resources to seriously ill children and their families. We also collaborate with the NHS to plan and deliver research projects for children with complex cardiac and respiratory conditions.
Our team works directly with patients, carers and extended family from the point of diagnosis. This enables us to be there from the very start of a child’s journey (many during pregnancy), ensuring they receive the best possible support whilst in hospital and in the community. We extend our services beyond childhood – working with specialists in adult departments to support young people who have transitioned from paediatric care. Alongside our wellbeing services we also fund vital medical equipment including life-saving portable defibrillators for children with acute heart conditions who are at risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
We provide comprehensive support to parents throughout their child’s treatment journey and beyond. Our support is for the who family, this includes parents and patients, siblings and grandparents.
We also work with other teams throughout the Trust to provide resources and equipment for families.
We work with young people from birth to 25 years old, providing treats and services during an admission and at home. We run a group called Trailblazers, supporting patients aged 13-25 and collaborate with the nursing teams to run information days.
Visit our dedicated pages for young people to view our resources and ways to get involved.
We are dedicated to supporting the incredibly hardworking and amazing NHS hospital staff by regularly visiting the wards and providing them with a variety of treats to brighten their day and show our appreciation for their tireless efforts.
We also fund the hospital staff events and provide them with gifts for special occasions.
