Volunteering

A volunteer team member talks to a parent in the corridor of the hospital.Volunteering is a great way to get involved with The Brompton Fountain and meet new people.

We value our volunteers and reflect this in the support we give them. We often have new and exciting roles available for those who would like to commit regularly, as well as tasks or activities that can be carried out on a more adhoc basis, such as helping at a fundraising event or parent social evening.

Voluntary work is a valuable way to build a CV, especially during or after a break from paid work. It is also a useful thing to do whilst undertaking a period of study, during vacations and in a gap year.

Our commitment to our volunteers

All our volunteers are given training and full support from the director while carrying out their role. We consider personal development to be a good way of investing in our volunteers and rewarding them for the important work they do for us. Therefore, we will do our best to provide training for an individual volunteer who has highlighted a need or interest to develop a specific skill if it is one that could be useful to the charity, as well as to benefit themselves in other areas of life. We will provide detailed references for our volunteers when applying for a job.

Meet Jean, one of our current volunteers with the charity:

jean“Volunteering for the Brompton Fountain has become an important part of my life, the (Brompton) Hospital has done so much for me and it’s
great to be able to help give something back.
“Because of my own medical circumstance, I can’t always be readily available but we are always able to work things out to make sure I’m
still able to help.
“If anyone was thinking about volunteering, I’d say do it! Everyone has the potential to make a difference so even if you think there wouldn’t
be anything that would suit your skills or availability, there will be something that you can do. It’s hugely rewarding so go for it!”

Our commitment to our members and beneficiaries

We ensure that all volunteers with the charity are fully vetted and references are checked. Every member of the team also receives a full enhanced DBS and completes basic child protection training, as outlined in our safeguarding policy.
